Jules “Maria.” I bent down and kissed her cheek. Olly’s mom was sitting at the kitchen table mixing something in a bowl. “Jules.” She squeezed my hands. “It’s so good to see you.” She patted the table. “Sit. I want to hear how you are doing.” I didn’t mean to laugh, but she was so damn adorable. “First, I need to know how you are doing?” I sat down beside her. “You’ve had a busy few days.” “I blame the stool.” She rolled her eyes. “It was in my way.”

“Hello.” I lightly knocked on Jules’ office door. “Olly.” She stopped typing and stood. “Wait—” she tapped on the screen of her phone— “how is it already 5:00?” Jules walked around the desk and took the few steps toward me. “Crazy day?” I reached for her hand and tugged her against me. “Yes, and no.” She rested her hands on my chest. “A woman fainted while grabbing a tomato, we ran out of donuts two hours after we opened, and somehow, my order was missing iceberg lettuce.”

“Tell me, what are your thoughts regarding a carpool?” Olly leaned a hip against the bathroom doorframe and ran his hands through his hair. I opened a drawer and grabbed a comb. “Here.” I leaned up on my tippy toes and kissed him. “Carpool, huh? Well, is it considered a carpool when only two people are present?” “Hmmm…good question.” He pulled out his phone from his back pocket. “Let’s see what Mr. Internet says about that.”
