Chapter Three

“Olly.” My mom placed her hands on the sides of my face. “It’s so good to see you.” She leaned in and kissed me. Then, she stepped back and grabbed the shears to continue trimming the flowers for a bouquet. “I just saw you last weekend.” It had been five days, but still, she had just seen me. “That’s too long.” She waved her hand, still holding the shears up and down in front of me. “I used to see you every day.” “I know, Mom.” I plopped down on a stool and grabbed a discarded flower on the table. “Hey, do you know Jules, who owns the market?”

Chapter Two

“What? I don’t think so.” Jules looked confused by my question. “Did you go to Michigan State? We could’ve met there.”  “Nope, I’ve been here, and my cabin in Traverse City.” I shoved my hands in my pants pockets. “You must just have one of those faces.” “Maybe.” Jules smiled and stepped away from Stacy to turn in a full circle. “I love what you’ve done here.” “Thanks.” I tried to act like it was no big deal, but I had spent the last month renovating the place. “It was time for a change.” It was also time to sleep eight hours a night. I had been working so many hours that I couldn’t remember the last time I had a solid night’s sleep.

Chapter One

“What’s this?” I held up a plastic basket filled with zucchini. “Um, Jules, shouldn’t you already know that answer?” John, head of the produce department, looked confused by my question. “Not the vegetable. I know it’s a zucchini.” Seriously, the man needed to stop taking me so literally. I was the owner of the market; of course, I knew.“Why are these baskets right by the door?” “Right, well, that’s from Olly, who runs the produce stand.” He shrugged his shoulders and turned to walk away.
