Jules
“Olly.” I noticed him sitting in his truck talking to himself. His window was rolled down, but I couldn’t hear what he was saying.
“Jules.” He actually jumped when he heard my voice.
I put my hand up and tried not to laugh. “I promise I’m not following you.” It was true, I wasn’t. I forgot to order flowers this week, so I decided to place the order in person.
He hopped out and shoved his hands in his pants pockets. “Are you sure about that?” He winked.
What was fucking happening? I didn’t know anything about this guy when I woke up this morning. Now, several hours later, two separate meetings, and I found myself wanting to know everything about him.
“Oh, good. You’re still here.” Maria, the flower shop co-owner, and Olly’s mom stepped outside. “Jules, you’re here.”
“Hi, Mrs. Martin.” I turned to face her. “I forgot to place my flower order for the week.”
“Well, come inside, and let’s make that happen, and call me Maria.” She glanced over at Olly. “Did you tell Jules about dinner tonight?”
“Um, dinner?” I just met the guy. Why would he be telling me about dinner? Was there some special event I didn’t know about?
“She was just saying hi, Mom.” He opened the door to his truck and slid behind the wheel. “I need to go. It was good to see you again, Jules.” He didn’t wait for his mom to say anything; he just left.
Something odd happened between them, and I was in the middle of it all.
I heard Maria sigh, and then she grabbed my hand. “Come. Let’s place that order.”

“Where have you been?” Stacy leaned against the door frame and crossed her arms over her chest.
“Pink Petals Flower Shop.” I hit the power button on my laptop. “Someone distracted me today, and I forgot to place my flower order.”
“It was for a very good cause.” She laughed and pushed off the doorframe. “You can’t deny the man is gorgeous.”
“Why would I deny that? He is beautiful.” I pushed a couple of buttons on my computer. “I also just met him less than three hours ago.”
“And that matters how?” She plopped down in the office chair.
“You’re worse than his mother.” The words just slipped out. I wasn’t planning on telling Stacy about the odd conversation between Maria and Olly.
“Wait.” She sat up and rested her hands on the edge of my desk. “Explain.”
“Not much to tell.” I shrugged my shoulders. “Since they’re not far away, I walked over. I noticed Olly in his truck talking to himself, so I said hi.”
“And.”
“And his mom stepped outside at that moment.”
“And.”
I laughed at how her body language showed me she was so curious. “We all said hi, then out of the blue his mom said, did you tell her about dinner.”
“Whoa, that’s interesting.” Stacy sat back in the chair and put her hand over her mouth.
“I guess.” I grabbed my water bottle. “He seemed pissed. She seemed confused. I still have no idea about the dinner part of the conversation.”
“Did you ask, Maria?”
“Nope. I didn’t want to bring it up.” I took a sip of my water. “Plus, I really needed to get back here, so I left the conversation at a minimum.”
“Maria is an amazing cook.” Stacy rested her hands on her belly. “Just thinking about it is making me hungry.”
“You should call and ask about dinner.” I hopped up and made my way over to the door. “She would probably love to have you.”
“You can’t avoid all this forever.” She turned in her chair to face me.
“Who said I was avoiding anything? I just met the guy, remember.” I started walking down the hallway. “Is there some time limit on when you can date Olly before everything goes to shit?”
“You’re cute.” She caught up with me. “I’m sorry if I can already tell you both would be amazing together.”
I stopped in the middle of the hallway. “You can tell all that from a 20-minute conversation?”
“Yup.” She rolled her eyes and turned in the opposite direction. “You can try to deny it, but trust me, it will happen.”
I decided to ignore her and walked up front.
“Jules.” It was him.
Okay, what the hell was happening today?

Do you think Olly is just there to get some groceries, or will he invite her to dinner at his parent’s house for Birria tacos?
